Reuben Hills in Surry Hills

On the weekend I hit up Reuben Hills for Sunday brunch with some friends – a long, skinny cafe on Albion Street in Surry Hills. I had heard good things, so decided to give it a crack and I am so glad we did!

Highlights? All day brekky, allergen friendly meals including dairy free drinks and coffee, and gluten free tortillas (which was nice for a change instead of the old dense, gluten free bread). Not to mention…bacon jam, fried chicken and pancakes the size of your head!

Lowlights? There were none! We did have to wait about 25 minutes or so for a table, but I would do it all over again for such a delicious meal. Plus there are some benches out the front where you can sit and relax, with a take away coffee or drink in hand, until your table is ready. Happy days.

Try the broken omelette roll with fried shrimp and bacon jam. Flavours were absolutely delish. The baked eggs were tops, especially with the gluten free tortillas! Fried chicken was boneless, which made it all the more scrumptious. And who doesn’t love a bowl of chilli! They also do cold press juices, salted caramel milkshakes and Mexican coke (basically Coca Cola served in a bad ass bottle).

Seriously. Go here. Sunday brunch in Sydney at its best.

Dj’s verdict:

Add the broken omelette roll to your bucket list. It’s paradigm shifting.
